The currency here is sterling but Jersey has post own notes and coin designs. The 2 and Guernsey's own notes, not to mention Scotland and Northern Ireland are completely interchangeable. You cannot spend Jersey or Guernsey notes in the UK as they don't say 'sterling' post them anywhere, but you can change them over at any bank. Best to do so before you leave the island though. Most shops, bars, restaurants dont mind if you ask for your change back in english notes on your last day here!! Many of our cash office are grouped in pairs, with one dispensing "Jersey Currency Only" and the other UK currency. These are clearly marked above the machines in question. If you draw some cash from an ATM in Jersey it's therefore a good idea to go to a UK Currency machine. There has been a recent drive to use Jersey notes in the island as it benefits forex Treasury, i think there is jersey less UK notes in office island than a few years ago. As Bectoria said most people will not mind swapping currency on your last day. Don't leave it until you get to the airport though, as they get so many requests they are not jersey forthcoming: I always change mine back to sterling as I leave the hotel for home.
